Data Refresh Error: Cannot convert the value "Record" to type Record
Errors of the format Cannot convert the value [Record] to type Record may be caused due to the Privacy Level settings avoiding transferring (known as Folding in Power Query terminology) variables or parameters, such as Dates, into an OdataLink Endpoint.
The error may be displayed as a Yellow banner in Power Query Editor, or as an error message as displayed, when data sources are refreshed.

This error may arise when dates input in an an Excel worksheet are filtering a Journals Table, or when importing a custom mapping worksheet from Sharepoint into a report.
To resolve this type of error, you can either set the Appropriate Privacy Levels for each data source, or choose to Ignore Privacy Levels altogether.
When to choose to Ignore Privacy Level Settings
If any of the following apply to your Microsoft Power BI or Microsoft Excel Report, you can choose to ignore the Privacy Level Setttings:
- If Odata Feeds are the only data sources, and all the data sources belongs to same organisation;
- If the data sources do not contain any Private or sensitive data
- If the information shared across the data sources is not sensitive information. For e.g. Dates, excluding Date of Birth, Company name, Supplier Name, etc
