OdataLink Error Code 6001: IP Address not allowed for the model

Error 6001 will be logged when a call is made to a model whose firewall is enabled and the ip address has not been allowed.

Whenever this error is encountered for a new ip address, OdataLink will generate an email and notify you.

Before correcting this issue, it is important to double check the request was valid. If the request was not valid, and this type of error is occurring often, it may pay to change the ModelCode or DataFileCode.

If Power BI online was the app failing

If If Power BI online failed to pull data from OdataLink, you simply need to allow it. See Allowing Power BI cloud IP addresses access to the model.

If you were the one using the OData Feed

The simplest approach is to simply login to OdataLink and update your current IP address in the firewall. See Updating the Firewall with the your current IP Address.

If the IP address is already in the list

If the IP address is already in the list of authorised IP Addresses, it is possible it has not been associated with the model. See Allowing the specific IP addresses access to a model.

If you received a notification via email

If you received a notification via email, you can also authorise the IP Addresses via the email link. See Authorising the IP address via the auto-generated email.

If the user's IP address changes frequently, you can Add a range of IP Addresses to allow access.
